There are as many varied opinions about God, heaven, and hell as there are people. Just about everyone who doesn’t know the truth of God’s Word have their own take on who God is and what it takes to please Him. Some believe in heaven but not hell, and there are some that do not believe in either. In fact, there are a great deal of individuals that do not believe in God, heaven, or hell. They must think they came from nothing and will return to nothing. No doubt they also think that believers are nonsensical and misguided because we believe in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe in the Creator of the universe who is love and has all power in His hands. They believe in nothing. So, when all the layers are pulled back, we have a simple choice. We can either believe in nothing or believe that we were created by Love, with love, to be love. Not only is the latter an infinitely better choice, it’s the truth, and one that God will affirm and back up every time.
In Proverbs 4:23, God tells us to guard our hearts, and this is crucial for anyone that is interested in living a life of love. The attitudes, thoughts, conversations, and confessions of nothingness all represent the realm of darkness; that is the birthplace of everything that opposes God and His love and light. He makes it very clear that there’s a very distinct difference between those that believe in nothing and those who believe in Him through the Lord Jesus Christ. Those who believe in our Heavenly Father are set apart for His purpose. The Apostle John reminds us that we are children of God, and as such, we respond to the truth of His Word. In 1John 4:6(NLT), he said, “But we belong to God, and those who know God listen to us. If they do not belong to God, they do not listen to us. That is how we know if someone has the Spirit of truth or the spirit of deception.”
1Corinithians 2:14(NIV) tells us, “The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.” Not everyone’s name is written in God’s Book of Life. In comparing the span of human existence, the number who have and will walk by faith is shockingly low. Most will not accept Jesus Christ as Lord and will not be filled with the Holy Spirit. Many have rejected God and have no desire to know Him intimately. They reject the truth that wherever His love is introduced, darkness is dispelled, nothing becomes something, and the miraculous is possible. They are vehemently opposed to this, and they are opposed to God’s light.
Proverbs 20:27(NIV) says, “The human spirit is the lamp of the LORD that sheds light on one’s inmost being.” God created us in His image. He is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and He has created us to be three-part beings as well. 1Thessalonias 5:23 tells us that we are spirit, soul, and body. We are spiritual beings with a soul, housed in a body. Every human being has a soul and every human being has a spirit. Proverbs 20:27 tells us that our human spirits are a lamp to God because they reveal who we are at the deepest part of our cores. They reveal whether we’ve chosen God’s eternal light or whether we have refused His light and are not interested in spending an eternity with Him.
1John 4:8 affirms that God is love. He is so incredibly perfect, loving, kind, brilliant, compassionate, and powerful, and to know Him is to want to spend an eternity with Him. Deuteronomy 7:9(NIV) tells us, “Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.” God keeps His covenant of love eternally, and those of us who humble ourselves under His love and Word will never live in darkness but live in His glorious love eternally. 1Thessalonians 5:5(NIV) declares, “You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.”
You cannot be undone. You cannot return to your mother’s womb and the universe cannot behave as if you were never here. Genesis 1:26 tells us that God created us in His image. Ephesians 2:10(NLT) proclaims that we are God’s masterpiece. So, your existence is permanent whether you like it or not. HOW you exist in the permanence of your being is completely left to you. This is the choice before every person that has ever lived. We are given the opportunity of life on earth to choose who we are going to be. God wants us to choose Him and be transformed by His love, but we have free-will. We can either live an eternity with Jesus Christ our Lord, or we can spend it in the horror of eternal darkness where the father of lies continually obliterates everything and everyone in his realm by fire. ■
