The Blessings of God’s Faithfulness

When it comes to the relationships that we have with one another, we develop them over time, and we begin to take for granted that we know an individual pretty well. In many cases, we can anticipate their responses and reactions because of how well we think we know them. There’s a trust there, and you make space for this person in your life because of this trust. Sometimes, as well as we think we know a person, they disappoint us and do things completely out of character. God will never do this. Our Heavenly Father demonstrated His nature for us through the life of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Everything that God wants us to know about who He is can be found in Christ. The love, kindness, patience, compassion, and power that Jesus showed to others lets us know that God only wants the best for us. He is faithful and wants us to depend on Him totally and completely. He not only wants us to make room for Him in our lives, but we are to live every moment of our lives through Him.

The more we trust God, the more like Him we become, because He inhabits this trust. This trust is developed by focusing on Him, by focusing on His goodness and love. It’s the practice of delighting in God and giving our hearts to Him. He has a very simple equation in mind. He gave us the most precious treasure He had to give, the life of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. We receive the treasure of Christ in our hearts, then we give God back the love He has so freely given to us. He gives, then we give, then He gives even more. Our capacity is expanded as we increase our faith and love for Heavenly Father through Jesus Christ. And the phenomenal thing about this is that His love never stops. God just keeps on giving even when we don’t give back to Him.

This speaks to His faithfulness to honor His Word. 1John 4:16(NLT) tells us, “We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.” We can place our trust in God because He is love, and His love never fails. 2Timothy 2:13(ESV) puts it beautifully when it says, “If we are faithless, he remains faithful— for he cannot deny himself.” God’s faithfulness can be counted on because He is God. He is perfect in every way and His love is perfect in every way. He has no imperfection or flaw. He honors His Word because not honoring His Word would be denying His absolute perfection, and He can never do this.

The blessing of strength
2Thessalonians 3:3(NLT) tells us that one of the numerous blessings of God’s faithfulness is that we are strengthened. It says, “But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.” Here in this verse, we see that being strengthened by God is one of the great benefits of His faithfulness. Our strength cannot be counted on, but God’s strength cannot fail. When we place our trust in Him, He will strengthen us. And not only this, He will guard us from all the plots, tricks, and destruction the devil tries to use against the believer. 2Thessalonians 2:16-17 tells us that God loves us and by His grace, He’s given us unlimited gifts in Christ. It says that He will encourage our hearts and strengthen us in good deeds and words. He’ll do this so that we can stand firm no matter the storms that rage, and no matter what the devil is doing to steal from us and distract our attention. If we keep our eyes focused on God and cling to Him, we can rely on His strength with confidence.

The blessing of His comfort and shelter

We can learn about the comfort and shelter of God’s faithfulness in Psalm 91:1-4(NLT). This passage tells us, “Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. 3 For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. 4 He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.” As much as we love and trust the people in our lives, it is inevitable that at some point, those relationships will let us down. We may even face situations in life where people gossip behind our backs and try to cause us harm in some way. This is very hurtful and disappointing, and it can make us insecure about our decisions and choices. It can also make us fearful of trusting people at all. Heavenly Father wants us to forgive them. They are not perfect, and neither are we, but God is perfect in every way, and He cannot fail.

No matter the disappointment or danger we face, God will comfort, shield, and protect us if our faith and trust is in Him. We should pray and communicate with Him often, because this is what one does in the relationships that they hold dear. We should stay in the face of God because He’s loving and deserves all praise, glory, and honor. We should come before Him continually with a humble heart because this is what pleases Him.

Staying in the face of God means that we embrace Him with a heart that is totally surrendered to His power, goodness, and love. There’s no effort on our parts, we simply come to the table, because He has already made a place for us there. We ask for His forgiveness in the name of Jesus Christ, and God gives it to us. Then, we should simply meditate on His peace, mercy, grace, holiness, love, and ooey, gooey goodness. When we come to Him like this, He will do within us all that needs to be done. It’s that childlike faith from us that He is looking for. He needs nothing from us to be who He is, but He is ever willing to supply all that we need.

Hebrew 10:23(NLT) encourages us, “Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.” God is faithful to keep His promises. We must trust in this truth wholeheartedly and not go back and forth in our minds about His faithfulness. He alone is worthy to be trusted, praised, and honored in all that we do. His blessings are wrapped within Him, and He welcomes us with open arms to feast on the riches of His being through our faith. When we do this, He affirms our hope and blesses us to witness His faithfulness to the promises in His Word.  ■
