God’s Loyalty Never Ends

Our Heavenly Father is dedicated to our spiritual growth in the Lord Jesus Christ. This means that He desires us to imitate the nature of Christ. In Philippians 3:14(KJV), the Apostle Paul said, “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” This is exactly what we should be doing. God’s goal for every individual is that they not only pursue their high calling in Christ, but that they actually reach it. He’s given us this goal, and He has also given us everything we will ever need to meet it.

With God, there is no regression. He created our journey in Christ to be an upward and forward trajectory of elevations and promotions. So, as believers, we should expect that if there’s an area in our walk with Christ where we are not quite hitting the mark, Philippians 3:15 says that God will reveal it and make it plain to us. Either through consequence or through His Word, He’ll tell or show us where we’re falling off, and He will also show us how to apply correction. Loyalty is one of those areas where God is particularly interested in us excelling. It is very important to Him, and if we’re not loyal to God through Christ, every detail of our lives will bear this out.

God is Loyal

In today’s environment, we don’t hear people talking a lot about the importance of being loyalty, and it seems as though it is fading away from the minds and hearts of many individuals. The truth is that we can’t be committed to anyone or anything without loyalty. Loyalty is a strong feeling of allegiance and support. We express this feeling of loyalty through actions that indicate our commitment and dedication. Even though we may not communicate it directly, we expect loyalty in all our important relationships because we understand that loyalty makes them stronger and more meaningful. Again, we expect loyalty from the important people in our lives, so it should come as no surprise to us that God has an expectation for His people, and it is that we are loyal to Him.

Numbers 23:19(NLT) says, “God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?” Our Heavenly Father is faithful to His Word. He always keeps His promises, and He always blesses His Word. True loyalty never ends. It endures, and Heavenly Father demonstrates this in His loyalty. People vacillate frequently. One minute we are on fire for the Lord, singing His praises, and the next minute we’re down in the dumps, falsely blaming Him for the upsets we experience in life. God doesn’t flipflop in any way. He doesn’t say one thing and then do another. The Bible is God’s Word, and it is the definitive authority on everything pertaining to life and Godliness. When we follow His Word, we will witness the rewards, but when we don’t follow it, we will rob ourselves of blessings we could have had.

2Timothy 2:13(NLT) declares, “If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is.” God is faithful to us even when we are not faithful to Him. Some of us underestimate God’s loyalty, and because of this, we are sometimes disappointed in life. We underestimate the reality that God is loyal to see us grow in Christ, for that is our purpose for being on the earth, and Heavenly Father will not reward us when growing in Christ isn’t our aim.

Way before we entered our mother’s wombs, God included us in His plan for the entire universe. Ephesians 1:11(NLT), tells us, “Furthermore, because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for he chose us in advance, and he makes everything work out according to his plan.” Again, our Heavenly Father’s faithfulness and loyalty is top notch. Proverbs 19:21 says that we can make many plans, but God’s purpose will always prevail. This means that the very best course of action that any of us can take is to get on board with God’s plan and purpose.

We must be loyal to God

Heavenly Father is determined to see us go as high in the things of Christ as we possibly can. He will not falter one bit on this. We must be loyal because God’s Word instructs us to be imitators of Him. We’re to take on His nature and cultivate the kind of faithfulness and loyalty of character that pleases Heavenly Father. 1Corinthians 4:2(ESV) says, “Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.” A steward is an individual that has been given oversight over something. It’s someone that has the responsibility to take care of things and make sure they are done in an orderly and decent way. As believers, we are stewards of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and we have a responsibility to know, trust, share and follow it. Our loyalty to God is lived-out through our loyalty to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Sometimes, our loyalty is divided. We have one foot in the door when it comes to the example of Christ, and the other foot in the world. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 6:24 that no person can serve two masters, because we will either love one and hate the other, or vice versa. We can’t serve God and give Him all the glory and honor He is due if our loyalty is divided between loving Him and serving the world. He doesn’t deserve that kind of treatment, and He cannot accept it.

Sometimes, we pray and ask for blessings that we are not spiritually prepared to receive. We expect God to bypass our refusal to read and study, to pray often, and to let Him direct our paths. When this happens, He does not turn us away, He helps us. He wants us to show Him that we can be loyal, trusted stewards of His blessings. Rather than becoming frustrated or disillusioned with our faith, we would do ourselves a world of good by allowing God to teach us through His Holy Spirit. Perhaps we need to restructure our prayers in such a way that they honor God’s faithfulness and loyalty. Instead focusing on what we want from Him, we should focus on growing in our loyalty to God. And we should remember to be thankful to be children of the One True God who is always faithful and has made it possible through Jesus Christ for us to be faithful too.■
