A Heart of Truth

Most of us understand that right now, we’re living in a season unlike any other. We’ve never seen a time quite like this one. Whenever there is a season among God’s people where there is confusion and chaos, He calls on us to remain steadfast in His Word. It’s very easy to copy what the world is doing. Many people are panicking, but God tells us in Philippians 4:6(NLT), Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” Heavenly Father doesn’t want us to worry because when our hearts are consumed with anxiety, some of us make decisions that go against God’s Will. This is a season where we’re commanded by God to keep our eyes stayed on Him. Even though it may not look or feel like it, He is doing a new thing, and we must stay steadfast, so we don’t miss what He has for us.

Even though the times are perilous, there are many believers that are experiencing the bliss of the heavenly realm in a phenomenal way. Some have encounters with God through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, and they are taken up to heaven. We shouldn’t at all be surprised that those who hunger and thirst after righteousness are treated to such a hearty and divine feast by Heavenly Father. He is showing off His glory and giving us a glimpse of the mansions Jesus Christ is preparing for us. Colossians 3:1(NLT) says, Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand.” We can and should see ourselves enjoying the realities of God’s throne, because that’s where we’re seated in Christ, for Ephesians 1:3 tells us that God has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Most everyone that has visited the throne room have commented on the magnificence and splendor of God’s glory and love, but they also agree that the culture of heaven is one of faith and thankfulness. Both these qualities emanate from the heart, and this lets us know how awesomely important it is to God that we know the truth about Him and that His truth is anchored in our hearts.

Romans 12:2(NKJV) says, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” The earth experience presents us with an opportunity to give ourselves completely to God so that He can express His love through us. An absolute no-no is to let the cultures, traditions, and behaviors of the world to shape and mold who we are. We’re here to become better acquainted with God through Jesus Christ, and to know the fullness of God’s design for us through Christ. This is how we prove the perfection and genius quality of His whole plan.

The exquisiteness of God’s personhood was expressed through the life of Christ as he walked the earth. Heavenly Father wants this same exquisiteness to be expressed through each of us as well, for we are His children and we should have and practice His nature. 2Chronicles 16:9(NLT) tells us, “The eyes of the LORD search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” He’s searching the entire earth, looking for a certain characteristic in our hearts, and it is the humility to allow His Word to transformed us into the person He destined us to be.

You and I are not surprises to God. He knew us way before we entered our mother’s wombs. Romans 8:29 tells us this, and it also tells us the reason why we exist. We were predesigned by God to become replicas of His Son, Jesus Christ. Like Christ, we are to live by God’s truth and love. Christ is God’s firstborn. He’s the original, our Big Brother, and we’re to grow up to be like him. Because of his sacrifice, we are a part of God’s family, and through Christ, God has freely given us all things. But here’s what you and I have to know, we can’t enjoy all the spiritual blessings and gifts we’ve received if we don’t know how to use them. The way that we find out how to use our spiritual blessings, wealth, and weaponry is to know everything that we can discover about the Giver of this rich treasury.

All of us go after our own interest to some degree. We believe that something or someone will make us happy, and this is what we pursue. Very often, we do this without consulting Heavenly Father about His plans for our lives. In 1 Peter 5:6(NLT), God instructs, “So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.” God is telling us not to take matters into our own hands, but instead look to Him for all answers. We must pursue His Word, because it is a life-giving truth. It’s our roadmap for life.

To have a heart that is filled with God’s truth is the only way to live by faith and to be successful as a believer in Jesus Christ. It’s the only way to receive the blessings that have our names stamped on them. Our faith must be continually nurtured by studying the Word. We must have a heart that seeks to keep our connection to God strong so our relationship with Him through Jesus Christ is strengthened throughout our lives. Not having God’s truth in our hearts will disqualify us from the race, but when we keep the faith and remain thankful in our hearts for all God has done for us, He will be faithful to bless us according to the promises of His Word. ■
